The first "BIGTIME BikerToons" project....

I remember this Facebook Private Message...October 22, 2010, at around 9:30pm...

The heading says..." Hello po inquire lang po...me nagrecommend po kasi sakin na nagawa daw po kayo ng caricature gusto ko po sana magpagawa class picture po, pero puro mukha lang po ang gagawin bale 30 ata pong mukha, tapos naka 96 yung halera nung mga mukha."

Needless to say, the rest was history...

ugat ng pinoy rock

The Juan Dela Cruz Band was one of the first rock and roll bands in the Philippines. In December 1970, the band was featured in the first open field rock festival in the Philippines, the Antipolo Rock Festival. The band's popularity gained momentum in September 1971 when it backed up the production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Cultural Center of the Philippines

(CCP). Then in December of the same year, the band garnered its crowning glory when again, for the first time in the Philippines, a rock group on its own, backed by a full symphony orchestra (the National Philharmonic) was presented in concert at the CCP.

The band originally had six members: Wally Gonzales (guitars and vocals), Rene Segueco (organ and vocals), Clifford Ho (bass and vocal), Romy Santos (wind instruments), Bobot Guerrero (drums), and Sandy Tagarro (lead vocals). Sandy Tagarro left the band before the band's first album "Up in Arms" was released. Wally Gonzales, in an interview later credited Edmund "Bosyo" Fortuno of having coined the band's name though Bosyo's collaboration with the band wasn't until 1981 with Juan Dela Cruz Band's 6th Album in which he was the drummer along with Joey "Pepe" Smith.

Originally done by Ariston de Roxas, my previous co-employee and "kumpare", also inside the CYCLEHAUS Showroom in Imus, Cavite. The painting shows Albert Einstein transforming from his original "look" into a cool cigar-smoking-biker in leather jacket.

dessert ride

My son Joseph's version of a cool ride. Original drawing via ball pen and bond paper. I asked him who's the rider and with out hesitation, he told me "he" is the biker in the drawing....mana sa ama.

Val Dido is a local Honda Mechanic based in Naic, Cavite. A long-time friend and truly a great mechanic. Previously known as Takbong-Macho-Xperto having owned a TMX-155 Honda is also seen lately on his bike on wheelies (being his favorite stunt). By the way, the dude is also a champ tennis player.

the man from Galera...the master "Maninisid" also a great musician. Nakilala ko siya thru PhilMC and later on sa imeet-up sa Alabang. Cool guy, hindi takot sa ulan...

inspiration...

Biker toons was inspired by a site recommended to me by my pinsan Michael Villegas. Since I'm into creating cartoon characters lately,based on real life personalities (mostly bikers and motorcycle enthusiast)... those of my relatives, friends and "ka-kilala" or whatsoever, so I decided to check it out. The site rocktoons.com is very cool! (To know more about of rocktoons.com, you can check it out at my followed link.)

Thus Biker Toons was born...ENJOY!
